A lonely astronaut must save Earth from extinction. Ryan Gosling delivers a career-best performance in this adaptation of Andy Weir’s beloved novel. The film balances hard science with genuine emotion, creating a meditation on human connection in the vastness of space.
The technical accomplishment of the space sequences is matched by the emotional depth of Gosling’s performance. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have crafted something rare: a hard sci-fi film that never loses sight of the heart beating beneath its premise. The screenplay mines genuine laughs from isolation while never losing sight of the existential stakes.
